Things I Wish I Were Better At

I wish I could do this, even if, ironically, I would only taste one forkful of the end result.

Then there’s something I’m good at, but am not good at making time for.

Making time to update my scrapbook journal

I wish I was better at writing catchy advertising copy. I’m taking a class, so that at least puts me ahead of cake decorating.

And just when I thought I couldn’t think of anything I wish I was better at, I have three. You see, I’m more about action than wishing.

I was going to keep this post light until last Friday happened. Now, I will add my truest thing I wish I was better at. Finding a way to end poverty. Forever. As in, no one in future generations would know anyone who knew what it was. Because I believe that poverty is at the core of many of society’s biggest problems.

  1. I loved this post! Bravo! Yes, ending poverty would a dream come true. It would eliminate so much suffering in the world.

On a lighter note, that rainbow cake looks so good.

    My post.

  2. I LOVE those cakes. I can barely bake one decently, never mind decorating one. I have far too many thoughts on poverty to share, but it’s a worthwhile wish, for sure…

    Thanks for visiting me earlier!

    1. I watch baking shows just to torture myself. Even the nine year old contestants on Kids Baking Championship decorate better than I do. I can bake, so we eat simple desserts.

      Poverty…yep, Huge subject.

      I enjoyed visiting you!

  3. Yes, among the various things I’d love to be better at it would be political activity and getting politically organized. (My actual answer is here.) Ending poverty would be a great long-term goal for that.

  4. The cake with the pink roses looks amazing. I would love to be able to do that too. Although I’d probably cry the moment someone destroyed my work by cutting into the cake!
